Default Wheel Valve Stems.

OK. I admit, this may come across as a dumb question.
But you know what they say, the only dumb question is the one never asked.
So, I live in Australia, I work for Harley. I mount my own tires.
Everytime I change tires we never have valve stems that fit my wheels. So the Harley stems are a different size. And we have a few different sizes, But none are correct.
So I am running vintage valve stems. Both my rear ones have been sealed with 1104 bond. As they leaked. Now my left front, Well, see pics.

These factory wheels.

These leaky stems.
What bloody size are they????
I go on Zip Corvettes site and they list 3 different sizes. All that fit over a thirty year span. But none of there descriptions say which wheels they fit. If I pull it to measure. I'm off the road for a month or more waiting on parts.
So, these factory aluminium wheels, What valve stem size do I need to order?
Thanks.

The diameter of Chevrolet valve stems is the same for just about everything from the 50's through at least 96. The only thing that changes usually is the length of the stem. The 53-82 Corvette Parts Book lists three different valve stems for 57-82 Corvettes, but they're all the same diameter .453 hole. Most aftermarket stems are sold as half inch.

From the Parts Book:
274083 - all 57-81 (.453 hole, 1 1/4" long)
9436977 - 74-82 (.453 hole, 1 1/2" long)
274288 - 82 (.453, 1 1/4" long)

I'm not sure what's different about the 82 stem, but the size is the same. The stem list as 82 is still in available through the GM parts system ,but the other two are discontinued.

To be honest, I don't believe there's any difference in the valve stem hole size for any US make cars. It's been 45 years since I worked summers in a gas station, but I don't remember having different stems for different brands. We use to just have a box full of valve stems and when we needed one we just reached in and grabbed one.

There are two diameters for valve stems: .453 & .625
But I can't believe it would need a .625...

I believe the "part number" for the .453 1.25" lengthvalve stem is a TR413. TR418 is same but 2" long. this would be for going through a hubcap or a beauty ring

TR415 is the .632 wide short one.

I cant say for certain that all cars, but every GM from the 60-70s that I have encountered has taken a variant of the .453 valve stem. for your rim, since you have no rings I would run short 413

dont buy through a specialty vendor. just go on ebay and you can buy them by the thousands. any half decent parts store should be able to sell you one, or 4
