Default What are these??

I came by these seats In a parts lot that I purchased. They appear to be early 1968 low latch vinyl seats. To my untrained eye, the vinyl looks like it hasn’t been replaced. I cleaned them
up, replaced and/or polished all the hardware and replaced one of the back covers. The tracks are getting media blasted and painted.

The problem is, I’ve scrolled through thousands of 68’ interior photos and I cannot find these particular seats anywhere. Everything I’ve seen has vertical seams.

I was going to use these in my 72’ but ultimately decided against it. I’ll probably be selling them and I’m looking for information so I don’t misrepresent them in the listing.
Thanks,
Dusty

I dont know what they are, but they look cool. I'd be interested in them when you go to sell them.

They sure look like '68 seats that have been (incorrectly) recovered.
That vinyl sure doesn't look 54 years old.

If I post pics of the bottom or with the seat back removed is there a way to tell if they've been recovered?

I had just finished reassembling them and wiped them down with a heavy coat of vinyl conditioner. They were pretty stiff when i got them but they've softened up nicely after a several applications over the last month.

Those are definitely early '68 seats, no doubt have been recovered in a different cover/pattern. Any quality upholstery shop can make custom seats in whatever pattern you want.

They have a European flare, reminds me of Porsche 928 seat pattern.

Thanks for the replies. The vinyl fits so well, I was convinced that they were factory. I guess I was trying to convince myself they were something rare.

They’re recovered aftermarket seat covers.
