hey members,

the rear window beauty trim is held on with plastic
clips.
Anyone ever replaced them or knows where to get some?

thanks for input.

Paragon, Vol-Vette….any of the Forum sponsors…Au-Ve-Co, CR Laurence, if you can check Amazon for deals. Short white plastic GM clips, or tall clips, I don’t remember which. Just Clips may have them, too.

I've replaced some, it's pretty easy if there is sufficient room between the glass (or the glue that holds the glass in) and the body. If there's not enough room it gets difficult or even impossible (unless you want to take the glass out!!). The clips have a small rod that you push in to expand the plastic inside the hole and grip the clip in place. You can just push the rod all the way through the clip and then remove the clip. You then need sufficient space to get the new clip (with the rod sticking out) into the hole.

The 78-82 rear window molding clips are available as a reproduction from all of the Corvette vendors. They come in a set of 21 for about $30. If I remember correctly, they were also used on the Nova's somewhere in the 70's.

thanks for the clip pic.
I have removed trim like in the video.
metal clips have slots to lock them on the windshield surround.

these plastic ones have me scratching my head.
no slots just pins?
how are they removed for replacement?
I don't want to mess up the part on the car the clips attach too.

thanks

To remove the clip you need to get a small punch and tap the pin all the way through the clip (it will fall down inside the B pillar), then you can remove the clip. However, before you do that I would check that there is room to fit a new clip in. I had to cut away some of the glue that holds the rear screen in place to make room. For one clip there still wasn't enough space to get the new clip in, so I shortened the pin a little bit to make it fit (you can't cut the pin down too much or it won't do it's job).

AuVeCo has this one but need to buy thru distributor. You’ll need to check height.
