Can I get some help establishing value please.
I'm looking to purchase a 71 C3, it is a No options base model.
The car looks good and is said to have an engine rebuild increasing the HP by 100hp but there is no paperwork to support this claim.
The headlights work and the car looks clean including the frame, wipers do not currently work and it's unknown if the heater and controls work.
Pictures attached please let me know what you think the current value is, he is asking $25k
Don't buy a car just based on pictures. There are so many variables...best to have a Corvette inspector look it over, drive it, check the numbers etc.
it appears very nice and original, except for the side grates which I dont understand why they dont match the red of the car. Check the trim tag too, this car could have been color changed.
Fixing the non-op wipers could get expensive also.

JUst by the pics its pretty close...I would check for rust, leaks, see what works what doesnt..., Convertibles are worth more so I would start the haggling at $22K when you decide if those other things are up to spec and go from there
Thanks for the reply, I live in Vancouver Canada and there isn't a Corvette inspector I have ever heard of. I will be going to inspect it myself and compare all the #'s (he has sent me pictures of the VIN and block stamp and they do match). I'm told that the wiper switch has broken and thats it, but who knows, maybe it broke because he was forcing it because it didn't work in the 1st place.???

options, no not really, except big block over small block and 4 speed over auto transmission . The price reflects both. it s the car as a whole and it being chrome bumper that creates its value
Other than the usual checks, you don't think the lack of options hurts the price or future resale?
Thanks.

it’s just my opinion, but in some respects the low option cars are equally desirable. The power steering systems are prone to leak, the power brake booster is a bear to R&R and power windows can be problematical. It just all depends on what is important to you.

keep in mind the heater controls and vacuum can be expensive. All depends on condition . You will probably put another 3k into it and with the low options you will be paying top dollar
Looks like a nice car, obviously wasn't left out in the weather or abused. However, I would definitely get the car on a lift to inspect the undercarriage. Meticulous owners take care of the parts you don't see and those are the people to buy from, at least IMO. Good luck...

Looks like a nice car. Bought a 71 a few years ago and wipers didn't work. It was a broken wiper switch and the replacement was't too expensive or difficult to install. My experience with heater controls has been a lot of PIA work but not too much money. Tons of good advice of forum to follow. Don't think the price is too far off.
I have purchased many vehicles over the years but no matter how thorough my inspection I have always missed something, that, and on a 50 year car, if something works today, it may not tomorrow. Good luck.
My dream car! No options! Just pure Corvette! If the engine is spiced up then you have one really good riding car on your hands.
I have a 71 and I'm also doing the engine and putting new camshaft in and refreshing the heads.
Check the usual things like frame rust, bushings, VIN, history if possible and so and so.
If you like the car buy it, don't think about future value, unless you are in it for the $$$. And actually beeing a bare car makes it quite a rarity.
Is it worth 25k? I would offer him 20k and see where that takes me. Of course if everything else checks out. If there is any rust anywhere then that lowers the price substantialy.
