Hello everyone: Brand new here. I am a Marlboro Maroon 1970 rdstr LT-1 owner. I bought it in July '71 from the original owner with 16,000 miles on the odo. It turned over 33K this summer, still with original paint. I stumbled on this website when discussing back-in-the-day original tires with a friend. Then I stumbled on a person (firstgenaddict ?) posting the recent sale (on 03/06/19) of a car identical to mine. Just wanted to touch base with the previous and current owners. Got tired of people saying it was a "roll & repaint" because of the way the maroon flake lies on the various panels. Had it judged at Bloomington (actually West Chicago) in 2010 ish (they were not doing Bloomington at the time). They confirmed what I knew and had some other interesting observations such as the shoulder harness brackets showed that harnesses were never installed. Oh well. Looking forward to speaking (emailing) with another MM LT owner. Bob
Welcome Bob, I am the original owner, and also have original paint. Current miles is 124,000. Almost everything original. Side exhaust added in 1972 and more recently upgraded wheels and tires.
My ‘69 coupe doesn’t have shoulder harnesses, and there’s no evidence they were ever installed, either. Without records from the time there’s no way for me to find out what really happened.
Sorry for being cryptic. MM LT = Marlboro Maroon LT-1. Beautiful white LT, Barry. Is that leather? My buddy Bill B. bought a new, low-compression white '71 LT in January of that year. We ran them off shortly after I got mine that summer and we put Hooker sidepipes on my '70. You know what happened. 6 months later we dropped an LS 6 in where his LT used to sit. Bill was a Big Block kinda guy. Yes, we were kids, but when the sidepipes went on, the stock exhaust and smog stuff went in the garbage (?!?). Decades later I installed '65 Fuelie exhaust manifolds and head pipes (2 1/2" all the way back, no pump injector holes to plug in the manifolds) and bought a complete smog system ($$$) from "Mr. Smog" at D&M Corvette which my son can install when he inherits the car. How do you keep the 2 rearview mirrors from flopping around? Are you also a Mopar guy? Sold the '71 Hemi Challenger recently but will never sell the '69 Charger R/T that's been in the family since '70.

Not leather, standard interior, Vinyl. Your car looks great.
About your lazy mirror, I did see an article a few years ago, where you soak the mirror in something, to loosen the glue. You remove the mirror glass and beef up the little plate holding the pivot ball. I don't remember the details.
After the glass fell out of the repro on the driver's side of mine (chipping the paint on its way to oblivion) I put the original back on. It stays exactly where I put it. It's interesting if the mirrors on yours, Bob, are original, and they need a does of Viagra to stiffen them up. Back in the long ago days I put a right-side mirror on, and it, too, stays exactly as set.
What I did on the repro, with some success, was use wicking locktite. I got the mirror where I wanted it, made certain that the car below the mirror was covered with a drop cloth, and put a few drops at the ball joint.
I have a lowly 350/350 Marlboro maroon 70 I bought from the original owner. Original paint convertible with black vinyl hardtop. Black vinyl interior. Original shocks, etc.
"Lowly"? That 350 horse is a real kick-*** piece. My St.Louis buddy has one that we have flogged mercilessly and all it does is go fast and come back for more ... Where is Waterford? I am just outside of Chicago in Naperville, it looks like you are an hour north. Bob
Can't figure out how to put a picture on the left or is that the high dollar option?

Does you lap belt have the slot for attaching the shoulder belt?

You’re right. Straight north. But the quickest way is probably east, then north, then west. 🙂
