Default Borgeson install - rag joint doesn't line up

Like said, the rag joint seems to be about 1/4 - 3/8" too high to mate with steering shaft. Also, the chassis stiffener bracket holes on top don't align with the holes where I removed to top 2 bolts.

Is there a trick? I don't want to force anything, unless that's what's required.

Thanks in advance!

63-82 should in theory all be the same. I didn't install the bracket, but left the column bolts loose and it lined up fine in my 77.

A video might of help

I used the factory (square shanked) factory bolts, with the brace. The brace has slotted holes for minimal adjustment, but I'm thinking the square shoulders of the factory bolts are not allowing the full use of the slots. Perhaps use of the supplied bolts will allow everything to line up. Or, perhaps I should try installing the box without the brace .....

Any suggestions?

I do not have the brace but don't remember any alignment issues with the shaft. In my installation, converting a non-ps car to power steering I was disappointed that the pump body to reservoir o-ring was pinched and leaked all the fluid out over night. Not a difficult repair but still. Aligning the stiff hoses was the most hardest part and not that big of a deal.

Steve, I just completed my Borgeson swap and had the same steering shaft misalignment. I loosened steering column attachment bolts and shifted the column to line up with the steering box. I did not use the frame brace

Thanks for all the help!

I had seen that video before and was following it for the most part. But I bolted up the box before getting the rag joint connected. Redid it making sure the rag joint was connected first, then wrestled the box into place. Had to grind one of the bolts to a taper, but all else went well.

Everything is in and tight (I think), so tomorrow I will double check all bolts, install the lines and fill the system. Any other precautions I should take?
