Greetings:
I have a 75 corvette, no power steering, but it has AC S6 compressor.
I was putting on the AC compressor belt and I measured ,with a straight edge and ruler, the offset
It was about 5/8 inch off, the compressor was set back 5/8" that is.
Is there any way to fix this?
A few photos would really help.
Original engine? Original pulleys? Correct waterpump?
5/8th's is a lot! This isn't a minor shim job. Something is very wrong.
Yes, it's the original engine and other parts, except the compressor: it's an s6.
strange but I been driving it for about 8 years, and couple of months ago both belts broke.
They where about 5 yrs old.
I guess I might delete the AC, since I don't see a solution.
You live in Florida and your going to delete the A.C.in a C3 Corvette???.
I can't "see" a solution myself as you have posted up none photos of your set up. Perhaps it's as simple as getting the correct brackets for the compressor your running.
Alan Grove Components make all sorts of brackets for all kinds of combinations.
I think deleting the air conditioning is completely mad.
these cars get hot inside.
I installed a Sanden compressor on my 68 small block and had an alignment issue. I used a bushing type spacer to correctly align the belts. As mentioned above, a picture from both sides of the engine bay would help. Jerry
When I checked the setup, I noticed that if I put the compressor on the other side of
the bracket, it will line up close.
I had some work done on it ,and I think the fellow put it on that way.
What I'm saying is now the compressor is connected to the forward side of the bracket, whereas
if the compressor was installed on the aft side of the bracket, it looks like it will line up.
I believe this is the way it was originally installed.
So I'm going to give it a go, and see how it goes...
Ahhh, you didn't mention that someone else worked on your car. These things happen when someone else works on your car. They simply don't love it as much as you do.
glad you found the issue. Air-con is a good thing!
Hello all
Well I couldn't install the compressor on the other side, as previously mentioned; but
I did install spacers between the adjustment bracket & the compressor flanges, and it worked.
Sorry I cant attach photos, since I don't own a mobile phone.
The alignment isn't perfect.
I drove it to work today and it seems to work ok
