After 27 years getting back to my 1969 big block roadster project. The front end is about 2 inches too high. Is this because of the BB springs? Any ideas?
Let me know what you have done.
Thanks Tony
Have you driven it yet? As in, if it's just off of jacks, the suspension is not settled to its natural height.
Is it fully assembled? The amount of weight in the radiator assembly and all of the various components can be pretty substantial.
Did you change the springs or are these the original/stock springs?
What tire size are you running on the front?
I bought a vb&p front end rebuild kit years ago. They were touted as "the" guys. Well, maybe. They kinda went by the bigger, stronger, harder, is better, thought. Anyway, because their replacement coil springs were different height than oem, they included a 1" (I think) rubber spacer in the spring pocket to compensate. I did, and I'm high just like you.
The car rides great on twisty mountain roads (I still cannot keep up with the newer Vette's), but is a bit rough in town.
This a a friend’s 71 454 project, it was formerly a SB, we did not install BB springs and the ride height is spot on, no rub lock to lock and No hitting the fender lip , the ride is perfectly normal, this car has iron heads. The *** needs to come down an inch.
