Default Side Pipe length for 1980 vette

Hello, I am looking to get some sidepipes for my 1980. The exhaust on the car was no good and it already has some longer aftermarket headers. I've been looking at the side pipes on Amazon by patriot but I'm not sure what length. 50", 60" or 70"? Thank you

Wow, things have gotten expensive.

These are older Hooker sidepipes on my 80, likely the same part that @The Phantom linked. Those are the 36" Patriot side pipe shields. Kinda trashy in person, but they do save you from burns.

I use Patriot 60" on my '78. Have since tucked them up a little tighter since this picture was taken. Also wrapped the mufflers with heat wrap to help shield the heat. You can put your bare hands on the shields after driving.

I bought the cheaper Patriots in case I didn't like the looks it wouldn't be a big loss....
However....9 years later and they still look great ( but you need to remove the heat shields yearly and clean them to prevent rust/flaking chrome).

No comment on the length...that is up tto you and the way the headers are designed as to how long the sidepipes need to be.

I chose the 50" version so they would look compact. See page 80 of my build-thread for more pics......

So you are going to have two 90 degree bends to connect the headers to the side pipe?

I just bought 62” side pipes for my 74. It’s about as long as you’re going to want in order to clear the rear tires.
Im planning on running 2.5” rams horn manifolds, so no header collectors showing in front of the side pipes.
In the pictures, I just have the side pipe mocked up for gits-and-shiggles to see how they’re gonna look.
