So my father in law was helping me out with a stuck oil filter, and when we started it up, we heard tapping from under the hood. When we opened it up, this was disconnected from the bolt going through the firewall. While we were playing with it, one of the studs holding it in snapped off so I need to replace the screw and adjust it. Its a 1969, although the previous owner put a 71 454 in it.
I'll add that it must have had a leak or something and someone added that rubber sleeve with the zip ties to maybe try to fix it.
Or at least I've never seen one with it before I don't think

there should be plastic washer/spacers where the bolts hold it on the bracket as well. Tey are special bolts that have a small hex head and a long shoulder for the can to pivot on....thats a 68/69 vacuum actuator and the rubber sleeve on it is a patch of some sort
i agree. that thing is upside down, missing the grommet over the threaded shaft also. i supposed it would still work upside down just not look correct,or does it throw off the angle of the shaft...

I have those. I just put it back to the right place after the stud broke and I was investigating.
