Default 427 oil pan question

So I recieved a 1968 Corvette 390/400 HP 427, complete, looks like it was in a boat. This is the pan that was on it, long sump with a baffle and other oil containment.
Is this a stock pan? I'm planning on putting it in a '68 El Camino, pretty sure I need a short sump for that. Any thoughts on what I have here?

Hans

You can see the drain plug in the back in the picture there.
Vettes were the only one to use the little trap door that I know of as well. Single step, 5 qt. I believe they had the same pan from 65 up to 74

Mooser and forman are right: all 396, 427, and 454 Corvettes used the same pan, and, the drain plug is in the rear center of the pan. Wrencher, your pan looks like a big block Corvette pan. There are other big block Chevrolet pans used for other models, but they don't have all of the features outlined above.

Just did some quick searching and it should fit...I dont think there is any cross member interference
Just get the correct oil pump and pickup tube

Ecklers sells one that looks like a vette pan for the el camino

When you say “kings ransom” what are we talking about for an OEM one?

I think Cranes had one for 650.00 but it’s gone now

Here’s my spare pan .. trap door and the drain slightly to the right and reinforced corners

Has a few dings but still in nice shape for over 50 years old

Thanks.
I have a friend that has a new one in GM box with oil pump, pickup, windage tray and studs. I’ve been trying to talk him out of it for my ‘66.

Interestingly enough, GM just stopped making the pan a year or so ago. I bought one ~2 years ago for about $220 directly from my local Chevrolet dealer. As I recall, the only difference over the years was that they dropped the spot welded corner reinforcements so you just bolted them separately.

I thought this was a little overboard … this is a corvette reproduction pan with GM approval

Mine was a little beat up on the bottom so I bought a new one through GM as well, that of course was back in 2014 so I'd better be more careful of those raised manhole covers all over the place around here

I think it'll be too long in the sump area to clear the ElCamino crossmember on the frame. It's a lot longer in the forward area of the sump.

That's what I'm thinking. I'll look for the Chevelle piece or buy aftermarket.
