Optima Battery Life
I have a Optima red top, just pulled it from the car, date sticker says 08/2007
put a meter on it = 4.62
What are the chances of it taking a charge ?
I'm guessing slim to none, do I ship it to India and have them rebuild it like I watched on youtube

There is a way to trick an AGM battery into taking a charge from a reg battery charger. It involves a second battery and is shown on YouTube.
But 15 yrs is likely the end of its cycle. I got 12 yrs out of my Red Top and it was still going when I traded it in.
Longevity is all about how you take care the battery during non-use periods. I have my Optima on a Deltran Battery Tender, and that trickle charger is on a timer all winter.
30 minutes day is all that is needed.

Try charging it first. I've brought back Optima red tops from 4 volts back to full charge using the correct charger for AGM batteries. It has to be charged back slowly. I have this one.....https://www.walmart.com/ip/125-Amp-A...ctedSellerId=0

12 years is my record on a car, never charged by anything but the alternator, it was a Duralast battery from autozone, must add the battery was removed 2 times for diagnoses purposes on a dodge caravan and a 12 valve diesel, didn't help it cause either...i got a battery in a floor cleaner from 2013 and a forklift from 2014 im waiting to see if i can break any records

If anyone is interested in non-bias battery testing, try Project Farm, Best Battery, on YouTube. Pretty interesting. Optima came in 2nd place I believe. What was number one?
