Default Overpriced 72 LT-1 convert?

This car is local to me and find it appealing. Like the color combo. Has a white top. Let's for now assume it has the original drivetrain. Will the dealer turn this quick or have it on their lot for awhile? Doubt they will come down much on it. They know it will sell.
If the car is solid and all the pre-check boxes get checked as good to go, would this be a fair deal? 38-40K would be what I think it should be but being Corvette novice just not sure. (Hope the link works)

Hard to put a value on it without more info. No engine pics or mention in the ad if it is the original. Looking at the VIN, it looks to be a real LT-1, but that's all that can be verified at this point. If it has the original drivetrain and and is a real Red/Red car, they are probably not to far out of line. It would come to what kind of condition everything is in. Just remember- they are a dealer. They can't even figure out the vacuum issue with the car.

It does not have the original motor. There’s a discussion about the car in the For Sale thread.

Not that I care but the rear lettering looks right to me, what makes you say they are off center?

Not to mention the car seems to have vacuum issues. Both the headlights and cowl should be down.
Doesn't make sense they would be kept in their "forced up" position for a photo.

Great dealer ad.
They have an encyclopedia's worth of info about the dealership and only two lines about the car.

Looks like they are wanting to get it off their lot. 6K price drop today.

I don't think I could ever take a dealer that posts no engine pics seriously.......the major selling point of an LT-1 is the engine.....otherwise it is pretty much just another Vette.....
Appears to be a very nice car overall......even the stance is right.....

Well maybe the dealer has the wrong VIN listed in their ad, but there appears to be another 1972 corvette with build number 12900 https://www.c3registry.com/index.php...Kl7DOK3IE/TQ==

The "head on" shot of the rear looks good, but the camera angle in the other rear end shot, the one from the left side, makes the letters look offset.

I like how the dealer listed that it has a clean CarFax.
We all know that a 72 can not be listed on CarFax because the VIN has less than 17 digits.
You could find a much nicer deal for the money going through a private party.

Dealer website.

Agreed about the VIN as the car with that VIN on the C3 registry is totally different (although that apparently came from an eBay listing, so that could be wrong).

With the usual caveats mentioned above about no engine photos, no undercarriage photos, etc., I still think it’s worth a look. It does look nice. The car doesn’t seem to match the type of dealership it is, so perhaps the owner just brought it to the closest place. The list is around $38k, so if it checks out and there’s room to negotiate, this could be a good buy.
