Default Replacement hardware?

Was wondering where some of you got replacement hardware, specifically 1/4-16 nuts from? Usually, I have able to get most of my replacement hardware from Ace Hardware, but they only carry 1/4-28 and 1/4-20 nuts and bolts.

Just curious (as I've never come across one on the car so far and I've thought I've had every single bit and piece off) Where did you need a 1/4-16 threaded nut?

Pretty sure those are going to be "speed" or "emblem nuts" not regular hex nuts. And auto NAPA type place should have them

They are also called PAL nuts.

I've heard of them called Speed nuts most commonly, and yes PAL nuts as well.
I agree, it's a auto parts store kinda thing.

So I sheared off one of the 2 pressed in studs on one of the rear tail light lens units. I was putting in the rear wiring harness and had to remove one of the old ground wires. Anyway, I drilled out the broken stud (appears to be a 1/4 - 16 stud) and am trying to locate a 1/4 - 16 bolt to use in it. Appears that all the hw stores I have visited have only 1/4 -28 or 1/4 - 20 threads.

If you drilled it out, you need to tap it anyway. Just tap it 1/4-28 and be done.

Those studs were not threaded, the speed nut when installed for the first time would cut threads (loose term) into the stud.
