I'm sure you guys will know this. Looks like a (melted) yellow wire and black wire from the bulkhead connector. I was fiddling with the bulkhead wires in the engine bay and then all of the sudden there was a spark, burning smell and now the car won't start. This happened under the brake booster, where all the wires meet and go to the bulkhead connector, and this is the only evidence I have seen in that area of the spark. I'm guessing some insulation was missing and it touched some metal. The yellow and black wires were just hanging down to this connector with the terminals. The top part with the spring fits into the connector with the terminals.
Start checking all your fuses. I agree, that's the alarm anti tamper switch wiring. Nothing in the factory alarm is a immobiliser. So a blown fuse or burnt fusible link is going to be the answer.
Ok, thanks everyone for the input. I didn't see any obvious signs of a problem at the fusible links, although I'm not really sure if I would actually see anything. I'll check the fuses also. Do you think it would be best to just cut and secure the wires to this switch? I don't believe I'll ever try to use the anti-tamper feature.
NO never cut any wires that can easily just be insulated from one another....
Think about the next owner of the car...
You really want to be the next Bubba?
The switch is broken...toss it in the garbage.
Pull the terminals from the broken switch out of the "Plug" you have now insulated the circuit without damaging any wiring...
Plug is F/M terminals, what you see are the ends of the male terminals contacts from the broken switch.
