Default Headlights

I have a 1975 c3, the previous owner installed mechanical actuators for headlights. Everything was working fine. Switch operates headlights and they do open and close. My problem is that when driving, the doors go up and down by themselves. They do not both flop at the same time , it is interment, but both doors do open/close at random. This wasn't happening before it just seemed to start. Any ideas on what i should look for.

Start the car/use E-brake to be safe: Turn the light switch on and bump that area of the dash with your hand to see if the doors act-up.
Also raise the hood and bump relays/wiring bundle that goes to the actuators.

Do you know who's conversion kit it is? Post a picture of the actuator/motors.
Chances are they are just on the edge of the setting for up/down and need a little adjustment one way or the other on whatever linkage they have so the motor isn't right on the edge or reversing and gets pushed that little tiny bit when it hits a bump

I installed Richard454's electric headlight conversion in my '73 a while back. I had the same problem...after driving a few minutes with the headlights on, they suddenly began to cycle up and down randomly and not in sync (one would be up and the other down, and then alternate, continuously). Richard helped me sort it out. If your headlight switch has been replaced by an aftermarket one, and I had done that, the switch can't handle the current flow through the switch to the headlights. The solution was adding a wiring harness/relay that bypassed the headlight switch to power the lights. The harness is sold by Dapper Lighting and costs around $35-$40. With the harness, the headlight switch powers the motors that run the lights up and down, and a relay in the Dapper harness allows the lights themselves to be powered by the battery without going through the headlight switch. Solved the problem.

Contact Richard454. Might even be his conversion you have in your car.
