The hardest part to find? Reproduction parts that exactly match originals. Some are close. Some nowhere near close. If manufacturers take time, money, and effort to research and make tooling to reproduce parts, why can they not be correct?

Yes, it's been several years, but I believe that I bought it from a member on the forum in the for sale area. It is an original as an original is the only one that will fit perfectly on the fender area. Here, you can see it in this photo, it is yellow but in great shape.

I have been saying the same thing for years.

Loved the 78 SA ever since. Any hard to find parts there? I may still try for one and drive it to him.
I’ve been working on a couple of 78’s for twelve years now. The only rare part so far is the early78 turn signal/high beam pivot; it’s a 1/2 year only part. On taking mine apart I found the original grease had become rock-hard; interfering with the movement enough to break it. So, if you get Dad a low-mileage car(lots of them out there), that part would be worth servicing before using it.
Also, recently noticed Hagerty Ins has a rare parts locator service included, although I have not yet tried it.

The NCRS classifieds has an NOS '73-77 recovery tank for sale at $30. There is a pic to help determine if it would really work on a '73, or maybe it has a GM part number embossed on it. Seemed like a good price.

T-Top Center Brace Stainless Trim... Finding a good, un-dinged, clean, year appropriate piece has been very difficult in the past. Not sure if it still is.

1977 rear window defog switch. It was changed for 1978-1980E, which is easy to find. The 77 console toggle switch is a one year part installed on 60% of the cars.

A simple fuel pump all years sized as original or at least works and fits.

Unfortunately, the original laminated glass tops (1978-1980) were somewhat fragile and so cracked easily. Starting I think in `81, they began using tempered glass, and the aftermarket has done likewise ever since. Much more duarable. I have tempered glass tops on my `79. They`re great and provide peace of mind. The original glass tops I never saw. Probably broke decades ago.

Have an L68 ‘68 Convertible. Parts are pretty much available if your willing to pay up but oddly enough the radio ***** are hard to find in original decent condition.

To make it worse there are early and later 68 *****. Have you ever searched for 68 Nova radio *****? I believe they are the same as Corvette for that year and may not have the Corvette Tax.

Exactly, I was just looking thru a Volunteer Corvette catalog. It lists the late ‘68 ***** but of course mine is an early ‘68 built in November of ‘67.

Like Mooser, 8 years ago, I'm not finding the thin plastic rings that surround the seat adjuster holes in the seat frames.

You can use the 74 tank if you heat it up, it will mold to the 73 inner fender.

That's why you buy the entire tri-power intake and carb set up for like $3000.00.....
