Default 1100900 Alternator Identification help needed

Hell, does anyone see anything wrong with this 1100900 alternator? I am not sure the back half of the casing is correct but then again I am far from being an expert in anyway.

Any expert out there care to comment? I greatly appreciate it. Thanks Ike.

I think it should have a different rear case. If it is the rear case I think it is not cheap. It has raised "fins".

Yeah, thanks for the response Avalon. It Is the rear case this got me confused, especially the small “mesh” area doesn’t seem to match what I’ve seen before. Also, I’m not sure the fan blade. I’ve seen blades that have multiple reinforcement grooves wrap around the fin. But there might have been two styles.

Thoughts? Thanks, Ike.

Hi Ike, Cannot help there. The back case has been replaced. The correct ones come up once and a while ( just the rear) but can be pricey. If it were me I would keep looking if you want a correct one. I think in the end you would save a decent chunk of change. If that one is the right date, maybe email the seller and point out the issue. They may come down and then you can get the back replaced. I have seen a few of the original rear casings in the 250$ range retail.
Good luck. Stay safe, AJ

I have a late' 69 that has it's original 1100900. For a long time this number was considered a 1970 alternator, but over time it's been proven that it was installed on many late '69's, meaning Nov-Dec '69.
It apears that the alternator in your pic has:

1. The wrong pulley
2. The wrong cooling fan
3. The wrong rear case. The 1100900 has at about the 10:00 position at its rear what is called the "race track" of raised fins.
4. POSSIBLY the wrong internals because of the mounting of the fan. Not positive on this one though.

The higher value of this alternator is in it's front case that has the part number, amps, production date on the front case.
FWIW, one sold on eBay within the last year for, I believe, $400. If you use eBay, do an "advanced" search on 1100900 and click on sold items to show some that have been sold, and to see a picture of the rear case.

Redonblack69 thanks for the detailed response. I couldn’t find the eBay listing you were talking about perhaps it’s too outdated, but there were others that are currently for sale that appear to have the original rear half of the case on them. I have the NCRS book but the picture is at a slight angle, making it difficult to see exactly what’s happening in that area but there’s a few very nice picture on eBay that appear to show it.

Oh, well, as I stated to AJ, I was on the fence to begin with so onward, the search continues.

Thanks again lol, as always a great forum with great expertise, and it’s greatly appreciated! Ike

You have a 68 fan blade or very early 69 not correct for your 9J alt

also the large pulley you have I know is not a non power steering application so possible power steering set up and possible AC set up

in the following two pics is a correct fan for 69 with AC or tripower
yiu see the hook on one of the large fin, that is supposed to draw more air I don’t remember and some don’t have a hook
but the fan configuration two lines indented in the fan

back of the alt case is absolutely correct configuration for your application

later backs like 70 and very late 69 has a square boss but let’s not get into this and cause confusion

pics show what you need
hope this helps
any more questions be glad to help out

grant
