Default 72 Corvette big block value

Just curious, what do you think the value of a 1972 Corvette 454 automatic with a/c and power windows is worth. The car is white with red interior. Rebuilt engine. Car only has 45,000 on it (not sure why engine had to be rebuilt). Was built with performance parts. This Vette is absolutely perfect. Looks like the day it rolled off the showroom floor. Car has been repainted. Frame off resto. I know it's hard to estimate without pictures. Automatic cuts into the value.

Current value without picks would be somewhere in the $30k region. Pics would help narrow it down. The right buyer might get you in the $40s....tough economy

GM killed the HP in 72 to only 270. 45k is top of the mountain price for that year and the automatic doesn’t help matters at that price point 30 to 32k .. if you are going to spend 45k buy a 69 or 70 BB they where the last of the true BB cars and are more desirable

Indeed. There was a 70 BB 4 speed vert that sold for less than $33K, and it has all the options the OP was interested in. Being a 4 speed and a convertible adds to the value certainly over an auto-equipped T-Top, and it still sold for a reasonable price - despite the non-original replacement 454, and for a '72, that doesn't really affect the value terribly, because of the lower output.

Now an LS6, that's worth more, for sure, however, I think many folks in the market for a BB C3 prefer to see that legendary '427' on the hood. '454' never garnered the same level of enthusiasm (or value) that the early C3 big blocks had, sadly. The 427 BB represented the pinnacle of racing folklore for both GM and Ford back in the day. Everybody wants to feel like a winner, and that '427' badge means victory, love it or hate it.

As for pricing now, it's nice to finally see these cars start to come back to earth, price-wise - a trend that will continue as the econ continues to sputter/stagnate. It was pretty obvious to me that the insane pricing the past several years was a bubble waiting to burst - a trend waiting to go out of fashion. This movie is playing out just as I suspected it would. - I've been following the market for too long. Like being a horror movie buff, and anticipating the climatic scenes before they even happen - they start to become predictable. Happened to the equities market, which was also predictable, and now it's starting to happen to the collector car market.

The seller is asking mid $60k. The car is absolutely perfect but I think it’s way overpriced. Plus I couldn’t buy a Corvette with an automatic. I do like the 71 and 72 though. I know they have lower compression but the late 60’s high compression runs not great on pump gas. Who knows who long super will be available.

I doubt Super is going away anytime soon, brother, unless you have access to information we don't here on the forum. Don't use that as a justification to purchase a later chrome bumper C3 if you actually prefer the earlier chrome bumper C3s - they are the same car, albeit lower compression and HP numbers/performance. With the obvious 'aesthetic' difference between being the amber turn signals up front for the '72 - And creature comforts continued to be improved as the C3 matured.....

68 definitely had 4 427 options. Some folks forget to list them as they are a one year only car that some folks arent fans of do to the cars eccentricities....i have one and love it

True, and technically L88 was the 4th option that was available, but realistically it wasn't an option for most folks, as only 80 were ordered that year. Realistically, in '68 there were three '427' options, with a 4th L88 'fringe' option. And in '69 there were technically five 427 options - L36, L38, L71, L88, and L89, with the L36 being the most common of the BBs for both years.
