And still get cooked like yesterday's dinner by a Tesla...
Grady, everything you said is spot on. I bought my '76 new when I was 18 and I'm at 78k on the clock now.
I've never had one single major repair in almost 47 years of ownership. Bubba? Who's that?...
There's two ways of buying these cars. Nice original or restored for more $$$. Or needing repair for less $$$...
thank u sevtn76 I agree as well !! Buy them original or have someone else restore them . The only thing I did to the 75 was general maintenance other than that I drive drive drive
there only original once ..I bought a 1 owner 75 4 speed with 9800 original miles from an older gentleman.. let me tell you it is the best corvette I bought and I had a few.. 67,69,70,and 76 there is nothing like getting in and seeing everything brand new and knowing that everything is correct . It runs and drives flawlessly !!!
No squeeze no rattles just like it came from the factory.. The confidence I feel when I drive her is unmatched and I go on many long trips.. Another thing most people don’t realize is when you buy an original car is it’s an absolute pleasure to work on her , everything is in the right place and bubba has been there !! A lot of the haters say it’s only a 75 with no power, well let me tell ya, you keep on sinking money into ur “ chrome bumper car” that you will NEVER get back and I will keep driving my original maintenance free 75 that I payed half of what you got into yours..
Grady White,
I’m trying to finalize the new paint color for my 73.
Is this the original paint?
Its absolutely gorgeous.
If it’s the original color, can you PM me the paint name and color code?
Thanks, Greg
PS, I would love to have your 75 in my garage.
It's not a fantasy about the power chrome bumper corvettes had back in the day no more than when the corvettes came out with fiberglass bumpers and had a whopping 220 hp I can be off a little there but their were no power options on those cars and were gutless wonders so that's why I like chrome bumper corvettes and I don't hate the others it's just not my cup of tea hell it takes at least 650 hp to even get me remotely excited .
. FYI your 72 has less HP only 200 but people will ridicule the 73-77 ..But hey, you have three bumpers and paid 15k more… Not me

thank you Greg I appreciate that !! She is all original 4 speed with 10k documented miles on her.. the color code is 074 dark red but I think bit looks more burgundy .
I am biased but I believe the 73 has the best of both worlds.
It has the cleanest front bumper and grille design, much cleaner than any of the later years.
The rear tail section is by far superior to any of the rubber bumper rear tail sections.
Especially true when the chrome bumpers are removed balancing the appearance front to rear.
Not my car, but this is what mine will be like, minus the flares and side exhaust.
It was great to see the perfect paint and rubber bumper on the BAT car.
I’ll be a contrarian, and say that is should stay a museum piece, so people will see what they looked like when brand new. Museums are full of the “blue chip” cars, so it’s cool to see what a stock ‘76 looks like. They made a ton of them, so there are plenty to drive.
That being said, I bought my car specifically to drive, and not to stare at, so I’d never buy this or any other car to collect it and display it.
I’d go full “Cameron’s dad” from “Ferris Bueller” with this one:

I like full chrome in front and back, or full rubber front and back. I liked the pristine polyurethane bumper on the BAT car, especially as the red color can discolor over time, and make noticeable differences between the body and the bumper.
How’s your project going? I’ve been following your thread. I certainly hope you’re past all of the health issues.

I always get a laugh out of the "chrome bumper cars were better than the rubber bumper cars" nonsense. I've owned many of both and they've all been great cars. But if anyone really wants to push the point, do your homework first. The rubber bumper cars outsold the chrome bumper cars at a rate of 2 to 1 and even up to 3 to 1 on any given year. American, new car buyers LOVED the rubber bumper cars and there's just no arguing with the sales figures. So, enjoy your Vette, no matter what year it is, but don't disparage other years just because you believe yours is "better". In my way of thinking, I would takeany year of Corvette, from 1953 all the way to 2023, over anything Ford or Chrysler had to offer against it.
Talk about irony. "Dont disparage other years just because you believe yours is better" and then you go on to disparage two entire brands believing that the Corvette was better than anything the others offered.

I agree with Greg......and there is no irony.....just fact. If you come to a Corvette forum.....expect to find people who love and appreciate Corvettes. There are a few other good cars worth owning....but not many. Maybe a GTO.

Yeah, I thought that would be self evident on a "Corvette forum" .
