Default Original Air?

On a side note to my Original Miles? thread...

Both of my cars have unused factory spares that still have the nubs and paint around the tread. Both are appropriately inflated and I've not added any air in the decades I've owned the cars, so I have to believe the air inside is from the factory. Just think - it's untouched original air from spring '67 and spring '72; time capsules packed with nuclear testing fallout, airborne lead and DDT, wisps of social and political unrest, and hints of Lucky Strikes. Makes a mind boggle.

BTW, HAF+1!

I also have an original spare.....a Firestone 500.
Years ago I released the original air over the fear of having a garage tread separation.
I swore I could smell the hint of a grilled bicentennial hot dog...

Still have my original spare off my '72 also which I removed back in the '70's.
Probably ought to give it a wash.

My '76 came with the original unused spare tire but it was flat.
No smells of the Bicentennial for me.
