Could you guys point me in the right direction or tell me what should be replaced in an all original (except battery...about 50,000 miles total) 1982 CE Corvette? It has the crossfire engine so I'm not too sure of what to expect! Can be jumped, but I expect it to need new tires/hoses/belts. Not too sure about how much this will run. Thanks!
open ended question.
does it run and drive?
your list is dependent condition.
Tires do age out and must be replaced.
a real service has things like'
oil
trans flush
filters
lube
diff oil
radiator flush
even rebuild fuel injection
wheel bearings
chevy maint schedule can be sever
50K miles is not too bad for an '82. I would check all the above and;
Flush power steering
Flush brakes (DOT5 fluid was originally used)
Window and door seals may be rotten
Rear Hatch hinges (if original) have probably stretched
Check vacuum hoses.
90% of what you need mechanically s readily available and in my experience priced normally. You could probably build a shopping cart on Amazon to get an idea of the cost, but we have some great venders on this forum too.
Hmm, sorry, it has been many years since I replaced my brake system with rebuilt calipers and master cylinder. Maybe I'm remembering that the new parts warranty required DOT5 at the time. It's always a good idea to check the Owner's Manual or rebuild receipts before performing maintenance.
