My son just get a 1980 Corvette and i noticed that the drivers side t top headliner is missing. Could someone tell me the best place a buy a new one. I notice that ebay as them but looks like you have to buy both.
There are black in color, and also was wonder if someone would shine some light on how it attaches also. I seem some round clips also but not sure if there is any other parts needed.
Just a quick look. Top Flight Automotive sells them by the pair. Zip Corvette sells them individually for about the same price as a pair from Top Flight.
Tons of Corvette vendors. Perhaps you just need to spend a bit of time online and compare prices.
Different years use different giant Velcro type clips. Get the correct one's for your model year.
why different styles, they made C3's for 15 years. There where changes along the way.

I understand that but the underside of the t top as both round one and ones that a shaped like the letter L shape i was just asking the difference ....
Ahhh, I see now what your talking about. You have the round Velcro type clips. And those L shapped as you call them clips go one on each side and are clipped into the headliner and mount to the T top with a screw. One on the window side, one on the center bar side. You pop them up onto the Velcro type clips firmly, then install a screw into each of the metal clips. Very much the same with interior door panels.
Soooo, you have about 8 or 10 of the round Velcro type retainers. Not certain the exact number as I have a 77. And 2 of the metal clips. Look at the side where you do have a headliner. I think it'll make sense then.
The metal "L" clips as you called them are not used on 80 tops, they were only used on 68-76 (and maybe 77 tops?). The early headliners used plastic Velcro like clips too, but they were rectangular shaped (not round), and were positioned differently then on later tops.
For 78-82 the side clips were replaced by the 9 round Velcro clips that were placed around the perimeter of the top. Apparently the round Velcro like clips didn't hold all that well because by 82 Chevrolet had added 4 metal clips to the underside of the tops, and were holding the headliners in by 4 screws that went through the headliner into the clips. I always suggest putting a little silicone sealant on the clips to help hold them together (the sealant will hold them together, but you'll still be able to pull them apart later if you need to, unlike if you use adhesive).
I own a 77. It indeed has the 2 metal clips and 2 screws. Sorry I didn't realise that they stopped using them in 78.
as per using silicone on your Velcro type clips. Yes it will hold them up. But the next time you need to remove them, like when you need to adjust your tops for fit. Or replace your weatherstip. You'll have a ton of fun cleaning it back out. If they don't hold I would buy new clips.

Now the last question, when you go to order the abs headline how do you know that they will send the one with the round valcro or the oval one and will the new abs headline come with the hardware that the velco hardware attaches to....
With the headlines come with all hardware....
I thanks you for all you support./

The t-top headliner is basically the same for all 78-82's. I think the main difference is the number of Velcro type fasteners and maybe they're position.
While the 78-79 headliner should work, I would check with Corvette America (also known as Top Flight Automotive). I'm pretty sure they're the only ones who actually market a headliner as an 80-82.
Al Knoch is the only other company that make t-top headliners (all the other vendors buy from either Corvette America or Knoch). I think Knoch sells just one headliner for all 78-82's. A call to them would confirm this.
