Default Bracket on Trans Crossbeam

RH side, bottom of trans crossbeam is some kind of attached bracket. Looked through the AIM and did not see it pictured. Can anyone tell me what this was used for, if it is even a factory installed item?
Thanks.

That is one of the brackets that held the.metal heat shield under the footwell.

That's it. I think when the PO added the headers and sidepipes, the heat shields probably didn't find their way back on. The splash shields are still there. I did find the page in the AIM with the heat shield illustration. Just not where I expected to find it.
Thanks again.

When being used, that bracket is perpendicular to the tranny crossmember.
