Acquired a hardtop for my '72 convertible. Driving down the road it squeaks like crazy around all the rubber moldings; front, back and both windows. Really quite obnoxious. Moldings are in excellent condition; look to be fairly new. Certainly not fifty yrs old.. How do I get rid of squeaking? Tried treating them with silicone. it helped some but still lots of squeaks. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Reason: spelling error
My C6 had one annoying squeak, After doing over everything that could squeak on the car it ended up being the rubber weatherstripping right behind my wife's head! that sealed the back hatch to the car. One little dab worked a little until I finally took the time to wipe down ALL of the rubber around the hatch with a good quality silicone. Once I took the time to do it all, it hasn't returned. And that was on a 10 year old car, imagine how bad ( even though it might not look that way) your C3 seals are. Good luck.
Did you adjust the front three latches and also are the rubber tips still on them. Second the hard top has fasteners on the side and the rear pins may need to be adjusted. I also have a 72 convertible with a hard top.
Thanks. Adjusted rear by tightening. Will check front for tips. They seem tight. Many of squeaks seem to be around windows and those go away when I roll windows down.
Hmmmm...
my 68 hardtop had original weatherstrip and never squeaked, but I had the front latches adjusted firmly (I have to press them into the locked position firmly with my thumb and the rear pins are really snug (I have to press down on each back corner of the hardtop to latch the two rear pins)
I will use quality silicone made for rubber seals if a squeak happens.

Just curious, does your hardtop have the rear center bolt?

Also...does the window weatherstrip have the metal or plastic "Tabs" that hold the top of the glass against the rubber...if so, those things will squeak/chirp loudly.
