I'm thinking of using the pro6ten compressor and looking for some photos of one installed. The people at old air said they're lighter and run much better than the stock A6. I'd like to know your experience with it as well.
Don't know anything about that compressor. I think you'll find most of us run a Sanden compressor when moving away from stock. Much lighter. Use about 1/4 of the HP to run them. Aftermarket mounting brackets are readily available. And everyone has heard of them.
I googled this Pro6ten compressor. Found a fair bit of information on it. Like it has metric bolts, as in doesn't everything nowadays. It has 10 cylinders and they claim less drag on the engine.
but still not in the league of the Sanden and of course it costs more. The idea of it is it's supposed to look sort of stock like if you had a A6. But anyone who knows will spot the difference from 10 feet. Not a direct copy.
Getting a good A6 can be an issue nowadays. So I understand your interest.
Me, I'm happy with my Sanden. And funny enough. You'd be surprised but most people really don't know the difference. And those who do would also spot that pro6ten.
I installed one on my 70 SS Chevelle. It has the same dimensions as the A-6 and uses the same mounting brackets. It does not have the same "belly" as the A-6. As such, the system will use about 7 oz. less than an A-6. Jerry
