Hey Everyone,

Can someone lend a hand in the identification of this motor… the number on the pad on the passenger side head is V0916FKA. From what I can find it’s a 327 from 1969. It’s in a 69 Vette but I though in 69 they went to the 350. On the console panel it say 380 horsepower and 11:001 compression. It also has LT1 painted on the hood but it’s a custom nose…

The Lime Book (pre 91 ) and NastyZ28 do not show a block with "FKA". Due the shape of the pad it is a later block and not a 69. That shape started @1977

I saw that FKA was not listed but FK is and FK is listed as a 69 327… But it has a 1976 style steering wheel so maybe it’s a 76 with a custom 69 front clip…? 🤔

As BKarol said above, can't be a 327 from the '60s as that block-y shaped stamp pad came out in the late-70s. By then all production of 327s was long past.
You can't decide to overlook a letter in the code just because it's not listed in the Lime Book; each letter of the code is significant.

The VIN will tell you the year of the car. Engine, FKA, is a mystery but heads may give more information, they are center bolt, 87 or newer.

If you could post the casting number from the rear of the block you'd likely get better answers.
The 1997 Chevy Tahoe 2WD 4WD 1/2 ton & 3/4 ton appears to have the following FKA, FKB, FKF, FLA, FLD, FMA, FMB, FMC, FMD, FJA, FJB

I found two references to FKA, both from the '90s which jibes with the block-y pad. https://media.lmctruck.com
(this doc actually has 3 FKA listings, but one is a V6)
