Power steering valve shield

Default Power steering valve shield
Hi everyone

Is this 'shield' on the power steering valve really necesarry?
One of the 'ears' broke off when fastening the bolts.

No it was a later installed item on C3 Corvettes. Do not remember when it changed or if became a service item to protect the control valve.

Thats called the hose guide bracket. Not the end of the world if its missing. I have one that I would like to install on my valve, but dont want to open a can of worms bolting it on.
