Hi All !
Thinking about installing a quality set of long tube headers on my 69 350/350. I'm looking at the McJacks and the Hedman Elites with ceramic coating. Do any of you have any feed back on either of these? Install, performance, leaks, ground clearance? Which one may be better? I found a few threads on the McJacks but they were shorty's on a big block. Thanks in advance!
I just installed a set of the hedman ceramics on my 74 with a .060 over 327. They fit great, lots of ground clearance, and they are bent so the pipes have more clearance from the steering gearbox and idler arm.
The flange is pretty heavy, I used a large file to finish truing up the sealing surfaces. Only took a little here and there to have them flat.
I also used a copper header gasket. Oddly enough, I haven't had to tighten the header bolts. 1 re-torque after a heat cycle, and they haven't moved since. They work pretty good at heat control also, I was impressed to say the least. Dragged into the 21st century, .....
Good luckJeff
I have 30 year old Hedman's that I had ceramic coated.....fit perfect.
I worked on two other C3's in the last year that had newer Hedman's and they fit perfect too......
A friend has Doug's and those are very nice.....
