There is a set ov headers i want to buy in New York, i live near Vancouver, in BC. I know shipping a big heavy box 3000 miles wont be cheap, but the quote i got was ridiculous ($500USD). I'm guessing a 30-40lb package, big box, used parts. Is there a hack or good option for shipping these? Would it be easier/cheaper just to ship to Washington and have someone pick them up (i cant)? I'll assume the quote from NY to BC includes some sort ov brokerage charge, will i skip that if i ship it to WA?
I REALLY need these, and there is nothing local. Hell, since i bought this car two years ago i have not seen another single steel-bumper project car for sale here.
When I played with the UPS estimator to ship wheels, shipping 4 wheels individually was MUCH cheaper than two pairs of wheels, let alone a single box with 4 wheels.
Dunno what that means for you with odd sized parts, but perhaps that helps.

Well... it IS a pair ov headers... Guessing 15lbs a piece? Hmmm...

I had a pair shipped to me. No box at all.
Wrapped in u-haul moving blankets and then very heavily shrink wrapped. By Greyhound.
No damage.
I might suggest a piece of cardboard or two on on any corner flange that sticks out.
Not heavy.
The manufacturers use cardboard boxes and not even very H.D. ones.
