I have my 1980 4-speed. Years ago I bought new rear bearing assemblies, but accidently bought the ones for an automatic. I asked and the tech guys confirmed that I can swap spindle flanges between the new automatic ones and the manual ones currently installed on my car. I have to pull the flange anyway to install them on my new Global West offset arms. Is there anything that I need to be mindful of when doing this?
Well, I pulled the old one off my old assemblies, and man... that nut was NOT torqued to 100 ft. lbs... Came off with just a little effort.
The spindle flanges swapped seamlessly. Below is a reference photo between the 1330 flange and a 1350 flange. I have highlighted the width of the u-joint surfaces to show the difference in width.
