75 vette driver door lock failure
Driver side door stuck in on my car this morning after locking from the outside. I had to dukes of hazzard my way in and out. My body can’t handle getting back doing it this way although I’m sure it looked graceful.
Apologies for basic questions because I’m a complete novice to this kind of fix. I have power windows and manual locks. The driver side lock **** was missing when I bought it and I could never get a replacement on - it was just one of many things on a long list to de-bubba what the previous owner did. If I use the key outside or take pliers to turn the stub for the locking ****, I hear what sounds like a spring but nothing is engaging.
A quick forum search indicates that I may be able to take a screwdriver and unlatch it, but I’m not sure what I’m unlatching. Is there some sort of tip or trick to slim jim this thing?

In my '68 door there is a vertcal metal rod about 5/16" in diameter that connects to the door key-lock. Shine a bright minilight into the rear opening that the window fits into. You may be able to see the lock-rod and push it down to unlock the door.
You definatly need to remove the door panel and clean-lubricate the key tumbler and all the pivot points on the rod assembly...there also is a horizontal rod that connects to the interior locking ****.
