So I've been away from the forum for some time as my 75 languishes in the garage being ignored and turning into my own personal barn find. But, I'm back because I want to share my new build and will be counting on all the help the Corvette community can offer. You see I'm building a car for the Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge. It's a competition where you buy and build a car for $2000 and compete in a drag race, an autocross, and a car show all in one weekend. Nobody has ever brought a C3 to the thing in the two plus decades it's been going on. I intend to change that. That's where y'all come in. I bought the car, but it cost me $2000 so right now I cannot buy anything to fix or upgrade it with because I'm at the budget limit. If, however, I sell off parts and stuff gotten in the purchase that money can go back into the budget for needed purchases. So I intend to sell off anything that doesn't make the car go, stop or corner better. It's a 77 with a refurbished chassis and not so great bodywork. But I'm not intimidated by the task at hand (or I'm too stupid to know better).
Here is a pic of the car on the trailer as I got it home yesterday. I'll continue to post and share my build thread over on the Grassroots forum. I appreciate any and all advice and support. My goal is to make the 2025 event. That gives me just under two years. Link to GRM Challenge rules and info for the curious.
Thanks for looking. Wish me luck!
George
I intend to do so. I've been told that if I have a working tilt telescoping column it's worth quite a lot. What makes the 77 so special? I see it was one year only, but why should that matter?

One year only they put the washer / wiper controls on the column stalk , as well as first year for the high beam switch on there as well . The high beam switch stayed there for later models but the washers/wiper went back to dash board . makes the column a one off and the switch units (in good condition) absolute GOLD.
Thats a fancy mudguard attachment method on that trailer
You weren't supposed to notice my road side fix!
I checked the car. The control stalks appear to move as intended. When bad what commonly goes wrong? Not going to need them with my plans for the car.

The internals of the switch fail or the actual casting (alloy) of the switch body breaks from maybe heavy handed use . I have a 77 column here with a dud switch .
Well there was a guy on here selling his earlier rebuilt tilt/tele column for 2k . Not sure if it sold . But just the C3 tilt /tele is worth a lot for the guys who got older and have trouble fitting in their vettes with a standard column!
