Black checker replacement for emlem

Greetings. I don't know how this happened, but the emblem on the front nose of my '69 roadster has a missing black checker (picture below). Just noticed it today. I'd rather not replace the emblem, as it has a nice patina to it. Does anyone know how I can replace just the one black checker?

I have used Testers Model Paint to re color emblems in the past. You might also try black fingernail polish. Apply either with a toothpick.

Thanks. It's strange because it looks like a physical piece of something got dislodged and is missing. Regardless, will look into the model paint.

Maybe "scratch" the bottom of the square depression with an exacto knife to give the paint something to adhere to.

After reviewing several threads in CF around this subject, these are the two products and color skews that have been suggested.

Testors is a quick small blob on the end of a small brush that flows out to the edges.

Pebeo Porcelaine150 same as above and then an option is to bake it at a low temp.
