Hello all, got a little noise from the front pulley area of my motor (L48) rather random and sounds almost like something is bouncing off the fan a bit... a tinny sounding random rattle... I picked up a mechanic stethoscope and sound like it's coming from my water pump which actually looks original... cools well and no leaks but gonna replace it.
I started looking for an AC Delco water pump... is there a better water pump I should be looking at, needs to be stock 1980 configuration for all accessories and pulley line up, thanks in advance
thanks Peterbuilt, I believe I will order one through Top Flight to be sure I get the correct one.
If you order it from Top Flight you'll get whatever "Corvette Water Pump" they are selling. That will certainly work.
If you order by part number, you can be more precise. Here's what I wrote the last time this came up.

There are certainly nicer water pumps out there, but this one was $35-.
Timely,
I also have a weird tick/click in my front belt system.
I never considered water pump bearing.
Hmm, not that many miles on pump, not a stock one.
Its a lead.
Hope it works for you
Thansk again guys, the stethoscope definitely shows its the pump then I grabbed the fan and there is some play in the pump so that's it for sure.
I don't want to go back and forth with someone shipping the non corvette pump, I like to start a project and see it through and not leave anything open... thanks for the part numbers, this will surely help that.
I've had good luck in the past with top flight and corvette central
Look at a Flowkooler water pump and use a 180 Stewart thermostat.
Thank you, I have a little windshield time tomorrow, i am going to call summit on this, the aluminum radiator was just installed earlier this year by the Corvette Shop in Michigan and they replaced hoses and t-stat, not sure which one is in there but the cooling of the car is fantastic, I take the car out on 115 degree days and stays in the 180-200 range even stopped in some traffic... Thanks again
