L48 - Regular or Premium Gas?

L48 - Regular or Premium Gas?
I recently picked up a '73 4 speed with a stock L48. Does it require premium gas or can I run regular?
I have a 200 gallon fuel tank at my house and the supplier only has 87. They don't deliver 91. The closest gas station to me is about 25 miles away. It's quite convenient to be able to fill up at my house so it would be nice to be able to run the 87.

Couldn't agree more. Stock L48 is not a high compression engine. Premium would just be a waste.
