Thanks guys. Yes, headlight doors were pulled to paint, along with mirrors and gas cap cover and rear wing, but no reason to pull the bumpers off. Car was very straight, clean body gaps and needed no body work. I stripped it of everything, lights, grills, door handles, etc. before I dropped it off at my buddy's shop. Blocked and sanded:
Then reshot with black primer for the Dark Blue paint:
I’d park it in the sun every chance I could. If there are going to be shrinking issues, best that they show up now while you can still hash it out with the painter, rather than a few months or years down the road.
Oh, and she looks really nice, by the way! Like the color.
Very nice color choice, Greg. The '69 vert is in the shop getting ready for paint. Same deal here - 4-5 weeks to wait after paint and then home for reassembly.

Bumperettes sprayed semi gloss black. Not as dramatic on the dark blue, but it's surprising how many cars do not get this after a paint job. Way more obvious if your car is Yellow, Silver, White, etc.

That's something I could do on my white car to help it, when the PO painted it he didn't black them out.
Do you have plans for flares on the rear fenders?
I like the look of those tires and have thought about going wider on mine but I don't know what to do about flares, as the car doesn't need paint.
Real easy to do Jeff. I just gave them a light scuff qith some sandpaper, taped them off and sprayed them with some satin black in a rattle can.
I have no plans to alter the body.
Very nice.
I help at a local body shop a couple of days a week. Mostly block sanding and color sanding. Folks have no idea how much labor it takes to get these old cars straight. It's really good for the shoulder muscles. To get your paint job done in 5-6 weeks is pretty cool.
