Chrome ignition shields on '69. WHY?

Appearance item or an attempt to reduce ignition noise coming through the radio?

Reduce ignition noise. Firewall is fiberglass, so it doesn’t shield ignition noise like a metal firewall noise.

Think I read many times that it was more for the AM signal, of which there's hardly one anymore.

I've read that too about the AM radio signal. But they sure look nice!

Headers meant losing lower attachment point for starboard shield, so I fashioned a new support strap. Still channels wires, but I seldom use radio.

On my original 69' 427/400 car I had.....the wires were copper core and shielded.....mucho interference even with the shield that also had a ground attached to the valve cover!

Correct, radio interference by the ignition, because of the fiberglass. Does transistor ignition make any difference?

I also like the looks of the ignition shielding,
