I'm curious to know if this 74' sounds stock?
This is with just long tube headers, and not tuned yet.. but a couple of people were wondering if it
had a non-original cam..
How does this sound to you?
I wonder this myself. My '75 L82 seems to hit a pretty nice lick, as well. Nothing about it makes me think someone cracked it open to put a cam in it. I have long tube headers and have set timing and idle.
These pics are pretty big, but thought maybe they'd help to show the current configuration..
Does anything look really amiss to you?
(aside from the fuel line)
The first picture it looks to me like your metal fuel line just before the carb is crushed. i would replace that asap. second pic looks like there is no wire hooked up to the temp sending unit.

Does your headlights ooen and close. You have an open vacuum line near you brake master. It doesnt sound like its idling like a big cam, just sounds like a bad idle

Honestly,. I haven't even started messing with headlight system yet..
It also occurs to me that I took apart the center console, and I have that round bundle of hoses that goes to the heater/ac control, just hanging out in mid-air... is that a vacuum leak?
hard to say it kinda looks more like a big block line. just make sure it's for a small block. the description does not say. you might want to check with one of the corvette vendors they list the fuel line as 70-76 350.
It could be a wild cam or an engine in need of a complete tuning or even a stuck or dead valve as the result of a wiped cam. Tune it up including timing and put a vacuum gauge on it. Jerry

Probably. easy to find out. next time youi start it just see if any air is being sucked through those lines. if yes then you have a vacuum leak. plug them all with golf tees before you start doing your tuning.
Accelerator pump rod should be in the back hole. Just push the pin far enough to release the arm, if you push it too far it will be difficult to push back in place. Insert a flat feeler gauge on the other side so as to have some room to push the pin back after the switch..
