Based on my recent tech thread about the windshield washer bag on my '69 L46, a couple people posted photos for me. As a result, I noticed that my emissions sticker had a different two-letter designator than other '69 Vettes I had seen. I had recently glued my existing sticker down on one side because I assumed (always a bad idea) that it was original, so I never replaced it with the one I bought a few years ago. Anyway, I did some research, and the existing sticker ("DJ") apparently was from a '69 Camaro. So, I decided to clean up the area and add the correct sticker ("CF"). It turned out pretty well and looks much better (at least to me).
Nice job cleaning up the cowl. Quite a difference. Its the little jobs like that which add up over time to make the car better.
Thanks. I've been doing some little "clean up" type things lately, as I'm trying to regain confidence on working on old cars again. I did most everything back in the late 70s and early 80s on my '66 Impala SS and '72 Cutlass, and the late 80s on my '70 Ford XL convertible. But, now I'm very hesitant and unsure of myself. So, I'm starting slowly. I've reinstalled the retainer pins and added hood/radiator support insulation; cleaned and repainted the air cleaner base; removed the spare tire for the first time to clean the carrier; and did that sticker area. I also confirmed the part number, date code, and VIN on my M20 4-speed, so I'll be doing a fluid change soon, despite the lack of a drain plug. I almost always like my end results, but I'm nervous the whole time I'm doing things. Hopefully, I'll get over that as I keep going.
