Default Rear tray cover

Remodeling interior and the molding around back glass and the rear tray cover I guess you call it,is a black, mine appears to be fine dull looking of course, but we’re these pieces painted like flat black, and can the cover be removed with a few screws,or is it attached to the pull out cover.

This is looking from outside threw glass

Remove the screws and the corner pieces.
Also remove one side of the halo panel, will give you room to swing the shelf out.
You may have it stick a bit due to sealant from the rear window.
I used Zinzeer stripfast paint remover to get the sticky finish off. Don't sand, don't want to mess up the texture.
Painted mine with flat black Rustoleum with a spray gun.
Pretty sure you could also use flat black Rustoleum with a brush, just knock down any brush marks by stippling the finish with your brush. The flat levels out nicely.
Either way will be better than spray can.

Did this procedure on 4 cars, 2 79s and 2 78's.
Once I started and saw how good things went couldn't stop!
