Just finished rebuilding my front suspension with all new OE bushings & ball joints. The Van Steel alignment specs call for maximum possible caster.
Right now I've got 2 of the thick (.120) and one mid (.060) shim on the Left front and 2 thick ones on the Right front. So for the rear studs on each side I put in that plus 3 thick shims .360 on the back of each side and I'm reading about .25 degrees negative camber and 3.5 caster.
There's still enough thread on the rear studs to add more shims. How far can I push it and still be safe?
Somewhere I remember seeing a spec that said the max difference between the front and rear shims was .400
Have you slotted the mounting holes of the upper A arms? You should be able to get close to 5 deg pos caster by doing this combined with shims. That’s what I did, big improvement over stock.
