Default Seat Belt Light Issue

75 Vette Coupe, Automatic Canadian Car.

Start car, seat belt light is very dim, sit in drivers’ seat and fasten seat belt, seat belt light gets slightly brighter (not fully bright/on). Fasten passenger seat belt with no passenger seated and seat belt light goes off. The seat belt light will also go off if car is put in drive When car is in park and ignition off with nobody in car, seat belt light stays very dim.

There is no timer to allow seat belt light to go off, therefore when light is on (regardless of how bright), it stays on.

Does your car have the interlock gizmo on the firewall?

Thanks for the reply.
I'm the original owner and I understood that in Canada, the dealer removed the interlock relay on the firewall, therefore it never came from factory. I forgot to mention it's an automatic.

Thanks for the link, I'll read it later on today.

I thought they just unplugged them. But anyway, the faint light up would tell me it's getting a ground through somewhere it's not supposed to be getting it. On my 72 (don't know if it's actually the same) the system only worked when it was in gear, (connector on the neutral / reverse switch on the shifter) and the passenger only when there was the weight on the seat bottom.
The light was connected to the same terminals as the relay for the buzzer so if that buzzer, or relay, is faulting then that could be where it's getting a lower level ground signal?
Maybe try disconnecting them and see what the light does then
