1974 Corvette
I have seen several 1974 late production Corvette’s with 1975 front ends and speaking with an original owner at a car show, said that’s the way he got from GM? Can anyone confirm - I’m considering a 74 and the VIN 1Z37J4S4….., shows it’s a 74, but has a front bumper of a 75?
Thank you

Unless he bought it new, that is unlikely. 74 had a unique rear bumper, too.
Does it have a very high production number?

SO FROM THE PICS, I see bumperetts, & a nose that cuts around headlight corners / anything else ? any change in 76 or 7 nose ?

The whole bumper renforcment system behind the urethan cover is different.
I might be wrong, but I believe the '75 and newer have shock absorbers verses shear bolts on the 5mph bumper system (front and back)

He's lying and/or wrong. You'd have to determine which, if it matters.

I just thought the bumperettes were the difference. Is the OP saying there were (multiple!) 74 C3s with bumperettes? And not just that, but with a 74 (and 73) front section that is cut differently?
@2016-Z51 do you have pictures? Or VINs?
This would be a great NCRS question.
Not conclusive, but ACI doesn't sell a 75-style bumperette version that fits the 73-74 cars.

....years & years ago when I was collecting '74 VIN & paint code data from major Corvette shows over the last few decades, I had over 300 '74s in my data base, maybe a dozen and a half last day or 2nd to last day production cars and not one had a "'75 style front end". Typical BS story from another Corvette "expert".
