I certainly would. Just curious though, why would you NOT want to replace it with what is currently in it now? Replacing the battery cables, in particular the positive one, is a major PITA.
It is possible to replace your positive battery cable. Although if you have an automatic transmission it's going to be a giant PITA.
bottom line, what's wrong with a side post battery?
Put it this way, I'm a professional mechanic. I can replace my positive battery cable. And I don't.
I don't drive my 70 much so I don't keep a battery in it. I use one battery for several cars actually. It would be a lot easier to have a top post battery in it for sure, a lot easier to take the cables off and on without the worry of stripping out the terminal threads on the very awkward to get at fittings on a side terminal battery. If I thought about it and I was again at that stage of the restoration I think it would be a good idea to go top post BTW, bummer that duel post batteries apparently are no longer made.

My usual sources no longer stock them in the budget brands I usually buy, thanks though!
This made me think of the idea of cutting off the cable ends and putting on top post cable ends, I just might do it. The 70 Vette is the only car besides my daily drivers that use side terminals, my other cars need top post. One battery for all my oldies is what I like and it would get rid of the Vette problem which I never did like anyway.

Thanks for the idea!
"BUDGET BRANDS" & CORVETTE, should never be used in the same sentence. Can't own a Corvette with KIA pockets & holes in them to boot.
1 battery to share with all your cars, now I have heard it all..........that NAPA battery shown is only $158 - WOW - Good luck with your experiment !
Sorry $158.99 ( lets not forget the pennies )

I almost quite frequently buy dual-post batteries. You never know when a guy will need to put one in a GM vehicle.
The side post was developed bc it prevents corroding terminals. It works too. I almost never have corroded terminals on a GM. Not saying it hasn't happened ever, but fairly rare.
