New guy here, first post.
I've been looking for 69' - 70' C3 for at least a year. Lots of cars out there from basket cases to way over my budget.
Is there any way to find out what the car was equipped with when it left the factory? I'm aware of the VIN, trim tag, trans codes etc. I'm just trying to find a 427 car as original as possible.
Best bet considering what your looking for is to find a seller with a copy of the build sheet and as much documentation as possible. The Vin will tell you very little. The trim tag a bit more. But the build sheet is the gold your mining for.

good luck on finding a as close to original for anything close to cheap, unless you think 30k is, I would think somewhere around there to start
what is your price range from hi to low, maybe someone here might have some leads if we had a clue
I just searched face place down here in my area, a big fat ZERO for any 1969 or 1970 big block, and the small blocks are at 30K range

you have to look at all the details and research them here and google to lesser extent. every part that makes a car special can be bought either new, repro or old used and installed. vin only tells you it is a V8. Duuuh!! buy a car with an auto and Lopo 350 and you can be pretty sure it is authentic. as soon as it is a big block or LT-1 there is an increasing chance of counterfeiting. OTOH a nicely done big block or LT-1 copy-tribute-whatever is still a funner car than a 300 hp auto. and the purists who climb under and point at wrong sway bats or drive shaft yokes? you want the best car in the best condition. not a bloomington gold or NCRS points trailer queen...
