Default 1978 A arm dust covers

I am wondering if anybody might have a template diagram for the A arm dust covers. I want to make some out of 1/8" thick rubber , so they last longer. My current ones are totally destroyed, so they aren't useable for templates

Thanks,

Ed

I thought of doing the same thing.... probably have to buy a new set to use as templates since theyre realatively cheap.... When finished with them, sell them to someone who wants them.

With a lot of luck, old pieces of dust covers and different radius plates, bowls, lids and whatever else I could find I made a cardboard template that is very close to the original curve around the top . I also measured distances of existing holes to help align everything.
Now I just have to get some 1/8" thick rubber and nuts and bolts to attach it

The rubber should work much better and last longer than the original.

Update ...

I bought a 12"x24" piece of rubber from my local home improvement store and plastic screws and nuts so they wouldn't rust . Cut them to my homemade pattern , drilled 1/4" holes on the rear side (3 holes) in then marked the holes a couple at a time to ensure proper alignment.

Total cost was about $15 - about same as replacement shields but didn't have to pay shipping , and the material is twice as thick as original and I think it will last much longer than the originals which feel like they're made from thick paper.

I guess you are in Australia?
Shipping must be a killer...
But the nuts and rubber is more expensive than the replacements...At least in the US...
Ecklers has them for $14

I actually live in Colorado , but the shipping charges were almost as much as the parts. The plastic screws and nuts cost me about $5 and the sheet rubber was like $9.50 with free shipping.
Most everything on my car is not necessarily correct year stock anyway.

The originals were falling apart @ 4 years when I purchased it. Not so sure aftermarket parts are any better .
