i plan on installing new carpeting in my 77 this weekend. I went to Autozone tonight to buy 3M Spray adhesive. They had like 3 different kinds,.... 3m trim adhesive, 3m 90 adhesive and 3m 77 adhevice.. Can anyone help me out which one to use..

Don't use glue.
I used 3M windo-weld which is a bead roll of sticky material that holds like crazy but you can removed if needed. don't use very much, only here and there.

Butyl rubber tape? That's good stuff, and a great idea!

The High-Strength 90 spray adhesive is the more aggressive adhesive for like carpet.

77 is less volitile, less strong too. Not ideal for carpet, but perfect for doing like foam headliners, etc.

Edit: Just wanted to add: 3M also makes a Headliner Foam spray....I know you're doing carpet, but since I mentioned 77 for headliners (It works). There's a dedicated headliner spray. I haven't personally used it though.

Another option is this stuff I used it recently, it worked well for me.....you can pull it apart and reposition if necessary.

I use Super77... But only where it is necessary like the back wall and storage area...
Also spot locations in the front...
It is a medium strength and carpet can be removed easily if necessary.
But most carpet replacements will be there for the next 50 years...

Among the options you mentioned, the 3M 90 adhesive is often a good choice for automotive applications, as it provides strong bonding performance. However, if you're looking for a specific adhesive product, you might want to explore the Epon 828-1 adhesive https://www.aerospheres.com/products...8-1-usqt-ctnr/, which is known for its high-quality performance and versatility. It's essential to check the manufacturer's recommendations for the specific carpeting material you're using, as they may have guidelines on which adhesive is best suited for the job.

A super strong bond is not always the best choice.
I use 77 because it is most like the original adhesive and can be removed without destroying the insulation, yet it holds the carpet firmly in place as it should.

Think of Super 90 as weatherstrip adhesive in a spray can. It really bonds well, and super tight. It is pretty permanent. Yeah, there are carpet areas where you might want that, and areas where (as mentioned above) where 77 makes better sense.
