Was doing some planning on converting from points to Pertronix ignition and noticed some things that I had been meaning to ask about on here but hadn’t found the round tuit until now. Any suggestions as to what these things are would be appreciated. Lever coming off the steering column with a stud that looks like the cable next to it should be on the stud with some sort of retaining pin through the hole in the stud. Red wire attached to what looks to be a ground point on the wiper motor but wasn’t attached on the other end when I bought the car. No clue if original or something the previous owner did. Any speculation or knowledge about what it is for? What looks like a vacuum actuator with two hoses one attached on either end. One hose has a red stripe, the other has a green stripe. Assuming it has something to do with ventilation air flow . I can’t find any place that looks like they should be attached to on the currently unattached ends. It’s a factory A/C car but I haven’t ever used the AC so far
The red wire should be a ground for the wiper and the actuator with the vac lines is your wiper door actuator. You probably should have a vacuum hose diagram for the car. There are lots of hoses and it makes life easier if you can see where they should be.
1.. The cable that goes to the transmission shifter so the steering column locks when in park / reverse. Frequently those cable jam up and they disconnect them
2.. someone added a ground wire to either the wiper motor or was using it for the ground.... why would they use red wire for that
3.. that big can is the vacuum actuator to raise the wiper door to allow the wipers to come out
