Default 1969 c3

Did the 1969 C3 stingray coupe come with universal seats if shoulder belts were not originally ordered? The car I purchased only has lap belts but the seats have shoulder belt retainers and lap belts that can accommodate a shoulder belt. Both seats have the retainer over the right shoulder under the head rest , both seats have the female receiver in the center. It doesn’t make sense if you wanted the add shoulder belts at a later date? For the driver side the retainer should be over the left shoulder. Did Chevy make two different seats, driver vs passenger? Any thoughts?

All coupes came with shoulder belts. They were an option on convertibles.

Whatever logic dictated that always seemed a little backwards to me!

Maybe the engineers thought you’d have a better chance of survival in a rollover if you were ejected from the car?

When in the build cycle was your car built? Trim tag date?

[QUOTE=. Both seats have the retainer over the right shoulder under the head rest , [/QUOTE]
My July 69 coupe has shoulder belts installed. The retainer on the driver side below the headrest is on the left side, the passenger side is on the right side so the belt when extended, crosses over your chest and buckles to the opposite lower side to the female receptacle of the belt.

Correct. The Seatback release **** is on the same side, because the seats are the same. The shoulder guide is as Driving69 shows, and the female ends are in the center.
